Summer is just around the corner and the City’s Special Events Manager Tara Craig has been very busy organizing events that will make for the perfect summer day or night. With exciting events like the SOTA Designer Showhouse (starts this weekend), Mayfair (May 27th – May 31st) Blues, Brews & BBQ (June 12th) or catching an Iron Pigs game there’s fun for all ages to be had in the City Of Allentown!

Just how much fun? According to researchers affiliated with a chain of business publications, the Allentown area (in the studys case, this spans across the Lehigh Valley or what we like to call “Greater Allentown”) ranks as the nations 54th most fun city out of the 100 largest metro areas, ahead of other prominent cities such as Virginia Beach, Kansas City, Colorado Springs and Phoenix. The Greater Allentown area received above average rankings for access to cultural and historic sites, access to high-impact sports and recreation sports centers. Coverage from the Morning Call can be found here
To find out whats happening in Allentown this and every week, make sure you subscribe to Tara's weekly events e-newsletter by emailing craigt@allentowncity.org. You can also find a full listing of events and activities by visiting the city's events calendar.

Where has the Allentown Good News blog been?

Where has the Allentown Good News blog been?

We hope that your good news about Allentown has been coming from other sources! Allentown Economic Development Corporation manages this blog and has had two unexpected interruptions that prevented us from regularly posting. First, our Marketing Specialist, Caitlin Osmun, had a skiing accident that has had her out of the office since early February. With a small staff, blogging went by the wayside as we scrambled to pick up the slack around the office. Then, as you may have seen with some of our posts, the Google Fiber for Communities project commanded a disproportionate amount of our time.

We will try to return to regular blogging as soon as possible, but Caitlin is expected to be out through May, so you may not see regular news until this summer. We apologize, but hope that you will still follow us on Facebook and on Twitter until we get back to blogging.
