Winston's Tastes Good, Like Jerk Chicken Should

Last night a gathering of ethnic restaurant-loving Allentonians spontaneously started an Allentown Dinner Club.  The party that was happening at the "Over the Hump Wednesday" at the Allentown Brew Works moved to Winston's West Indian & American Restaurant at 617 N. 7th Street for dinner.

I had heard about this place and their amazing flavors, but hadn't tried it yet.  All I can say is, "Wow!"

The crowd cheered for the jerk chicken and oxtails.  A dispute broke out over which was better.  The fish sauce that Winston brought out to liven up my rice and beans was spicy and amazing (but not too hot).  Really complex, a symphony of fascinating spices.

Winston Barnes, pictured here with his wife, Francilia Piters-Barnes aim to please.  Bring a party of your friends, like we did, and see for yourself.

And, don't forget to try Francilia's carrot cake to top off your dinner.

Take out is available for you to pick up on your way home.  Call ahead at 484-221-9682 and Winston will have your jerk chicken ready for you.  Or, for your next party, they also cater.

I still haven't gotten there. Sounds good. Nice photos of your table and the owners.

I forgot to mention that this restaurant is located almost across from the IGA grocery store. That will help you find it. Also, they expect to have cafe style seating outside by summer.

If you have not been to this GREAET new restaurant, what are you waiting for? The food is amazing, and it's service with a BIG smile! Since I discovered Winston's (and thank you Peter Lewnes for turning me on) I have to go and get my "fix" at least once a week! YUM YUM! I look forward to cafe seating!!

The food here is the best. I have tried other West Indian restaurants claiming to serve the "best in town" and I always compare it to Winston's. The oxtail is so good! The service is excellent, Winston is so friendly. This is Allentown's best kept secret.
