Allentown Brew Works Launches "Green Drinks"

Mark your calendar for the first Wednesday of each month, and plan to be in downtown Allentown after work on that day.

Starting April 1st, the Allentown Brew Works is launching a new opportunity for people interested in socializing and networking on the topic of our local green economy.

As part of a national effort, www.greenddrinks.org, this will provide an opportunity on a monthly basis for people interested in the local living economy, the triple bottom line, renewable energy and green collar jobs, to plug in and find out what else is happening around the town and the region.

WDIY, the Lehigh Valley Sustainable Business Network and the City of Allentown Bureau of Recycling and Solid Waste are partners in this ongoing event.

Check out the Allentown Brew Works' website for more information.

Joyce, this comment is off topic but a few months back I recall you made a post or comment somewhere about the warehouse or business which specializes in materials (fixtures, etc) for historical properties. Can you post that information again? Thank you!

It's not entirely off topic, because recycling building materials is fairly "green."

What I said, back in September was..."Best kept secret in the Lehigh Valley: the Allentown Preservation League operates a salvage warehouse on the second floor of 1518 West Walnut Street.

The Salvage Warehouse has personally helped me through numerous house renovation challenges, such as finding a door that is the right size, shape and appearance for your old house. Or, finding the right window, doornob or whatever."

Hope that helps you in your house part hunting.

BTW, I went to Green Drinks and had a great time! A lively assortment of people who care about Allentown and the environment came out. We connected with old friends and made some new ones. This is something worth checking out again!
